Hey, fellow Straw Hats! One Piece episode 1089 just dropped, and we can say it was nothing short of amazing. The new animation is stunning. The closest thing in terms of animaton style is probably Ranking of Kings anime. Let's dive deeper into the episode:
The Opening - A Knockout Punch
The exclamation "HOLY SH*T" doesn't even begin to cover it. The opening sequence of the latest episode was a breath of fresh air. The creators have outdone themselves, and we're here for it! But a quick heads-up, it depicts several upcoming fights between major characters, and some might consider it spoilers.
A Splash of Colors
The new, brighter coloring style deserves its own spotlight. It might just be the favorite style for many fans throughout the entire series. I know it is for me. One Piece has always been visually stunning, but this recent style upgrade takes it to a whole new level. On top of that, the directing and and the angles of some shots were awesome. It gave the animation so much life.
Terrifying Scenes of Imu
We all know One Piece can get intense, but those particular shots of Imu were scary to watch. Imu looked downright terrifying. The animators didn't hold back on the suspense and fear factor. It lefts many of us wondering if that was Imu's true power or he used some kind of weapon. Perhaps the anciant weapon Uranus? only time (and Oda) will tell.
Eyecatchers
Let's take a moment to appreciate the new eyecatchers. They are, you guessed it, a breath of fresh air. The straw hats look great in their new Egghead outfits. Can't wait to see them in action.
JAWS
JAWS - A Surprise Element: Without giving away too many spoilers, JAWS makes an appearance in the episode, and it's safe to say that it adds an unexpected and thrilling end. Can't wait to see the next episode!
Robin and Chopper Review
The Robin and Chopper review at the end of the spisode is an absolute delight. Their mother / son dynamic has always been so cute to watch. I'm glad One Piece finally decided to introduce the new Review segment, similar to other animes like Jujutsu Kaisen that features episode reviews with their main characters such as Itadori, Gojo and Megumi.
The new Egghead arc is finally here with the first episode being released. This is the year we've been waiting for, and if this episode is any indication, it's going to be an epic journey with the Straw Hat Pirates as they plunge into the final saga on the mad scientist Vegapunk's island.
